Marshall Terrace Featured Artist: Mary Bowman-Cline - December 2014
Mary Bowman-Cline has been a Marshall Terrance resident since 1998 and has been an active Minneapolis artist since 1993. Her studio is located in the California Building where she works in several mediums from oil paint to ceramics.
Her colorful paintings may include odd combinations, (see image above) and her clay sculptures may have buttons, keys, or other found objects attached to them. Her signature pieces are tiny oil paintings done on the backs of scrabble tiles, some of which depict full landscapes. Mary moved to Minneapolis from Metro Detroit in Michigan in 1993, and was drawn to the Northeast neighborhood because it reminded her of the industrial areas where she grew up. She has shown her work in several states since 1988 and continues to study a variety of techniques with local artists. |
