City Councilman: Kevin Reich

About Councilman Reich:

Kevin Reich was elected to represent the First Ward on the Eastside of Minneapolis in 2009. He is vice-chair of the Transportation and Public Works Committee and chairs the Taxes Committee. He also serves on the Community Development and Zoning and Planning committees, the Metropolitan Emergency Services Board, the Mississippi Riverfront Corporation, North Metro Mayors Association and Northstar Development Corridor Authority. He also chairs the Mississippi Watershed Management Organization.

Prior to his election to the Minneapolis City Council, Kevin Reich spent eight years as the Project Director of Holland Neighborhood Improvement Association. He was a founding Board Member for the Eastside Food Co-op, and also their Site Planning Project Chair. He served for many years as the Board of Directors’ Co-chair for the Windom Park Neighborhood Association, as well as their Community Land Use & Planning Committee Chair. He is also a PEACE Foundation Co-founder and Vice President where his efforts have focused on youth involvement and crime prevention, and he currently serves on the Edison Community and Sports Foundation Board of Directors.

Raised in the working-class neighborhoods of Northeast Minneapolis, Council Member Reich graduated from Edison Senior High School and then St. Olaf College in 1994 with a Bachelor of Arts in both Philosophy and Asian Studies. He spent several years in Asia as a teacher, trainer, and writer of educational materials, and then moved to back to Minnesota to attend graduate school for Public Administration at Hamline University in St. Paul.
